HONEST PERENNIAL CO.
[Formerly Kawartha Family Farm]
Bringing clarity to perennial gardening.
We’re Growing
We seed grow all season, so don’t be discouraged if we’re sold out of your favourites to start the season - there's more to come. We do have some availability for early season pre-orders.
Our Garden Cubes take the uncertainty out of germination while letting you enjoy the satisfaction of growing. Each 2-inch soil block is made from an organic, sterile mix that produces beautifully rooted, garden-ready plants.
You can also order early and pot them up indoors to get a head start on the season.

GARDEN CUBES [2”]
Our Garden Wraps are either potted-up Garden Cubes or rooted cuttings for plants that don’t grow well from seed. These are free-rooted plants, lifted directly from our growing beds so they adapt quickly once in your garden.
They offer a faster path to a lush, established look.

GARDEN WRAPS [5”]
How many plants do you need?
Make it simple: 30 Square Feet & 4 Varieties
Whether a 3 × 10 strip, a 5 × 6 block, or any shape that fits your space — the working size stays constant. We limit each 30-Foot Garden to four-five plant varieties:
- Any more and it reads like a plant collection, not a cohesive space.
- Any less and it feels like a wall rather than a garden.
If you do want uniformity go with monochromatic varieties that have similar heights for a bold, block effect.
Over time, we learned that thinking in 30-foot garden blocks gives us the framework to cover any space beautifully. For larger gardens you simply repeat, or mix and match.
Ultimately, every combination will get you to the same garden - the only difference is how fast you get there.
Increasing density gives you a lusher, more established look sooner, typically speeding things up by about a year at each level.
Increasing plant size - moving from Cube to Wrap, gives you a head start of roughly 10–12 weeks in the current season.
